性吧导航 launches Reconcili-Action Plan

性吧导航 is committed to education as reconciliation through action and proud to release our . 

The plan represents an important step in 性吧导航鈥檚 commitment to the recognition of Treaties, advancement of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada: Calls to Action, allegiance to Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICan) Indigenous Education Protocol and our responsibility to the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. 

The Reconcili-Action Plan is created on four key themes: Open Hearts, Open Doors, Open Eyes and Open Voices, and has actions and measures created around each theme. 

鈥淲ith open hearts, open doors, open eyes and open voices, the Reconcili-Action Plan recognizes our responsibility to honour those that came before us by building meaningful relationships so that we can listen and grow together on this journey of learning to shape positive change,鈥 comments Lloyd Desjarlais, Dean, Indigenous Initiatives. 鈥淚 would like to thank everyone who helped create this meaningful plan.鈥 

The Reconcili-Action Plan was prepared by the 性吧导航 Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Indigenization (EDII) Indigenous Working group in consultation with Indigenous Peoples including: 性吧导航 Indigenous students, Red Deer Native Friendship Society, Sunchild First Nation, Montana First Nation, Ermineskin First Nation, Big Horn 144A reserve, Shining Mountains Community Living Services, Urban Aboriginal Voices Society and M茅tis Local 492. 

鈥淚 would like to thank Dean Desjarlais, the EDII working group and community partners for their leadership in creating our Reconcili-Action Plan,鈥 comments Stuart Cullum, President. 鈥淚 recognize that we all have a responsibility to be active participants in our journey to reconciliation. As an institution, 性吧导航 is committed to listening, learning and using our resources and networks to create more pathways for Indigenous learners.鈥

性吧导航 Hosts Indigenous Culture Camp
In collaboration with regional partners, Indigenous Knowledge Keepers and Elders, 性吧导航 (性吧导航) welcomed educators, faculty, staff and students to Indigenous Culture Camp May 30 and 31. Alongside Indigenous leaders, Red Deer Public Schools and Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools, 性吧导航 offered this culturally immersive professional and personal development opportunity on 性吧导航鈥檚 main campus. 鈥淚ndigenous Culture Camp provided an opportunity for participants to connect and expand their knowledge of Indigenous ways of knowing and being through land-based learning,鈥 says Lloyd Desjarlais, Dean of Indigenous Initiatives. 鈥淭his event is one example of how 性吧导航 creates meaningful reconciliation initiatives and educational enhancements for diverse stakeholders.鈥 Indigenous Culture Camp featured a variety of sessions that provided authentic outdoor teaching and learning opportunities in tipis, M茅tis trapper鈥檚 tents and an Inuit tupiq. The sessions included a M茅tis Fiddling and Jigging Demonstration, Traditional Parenting: Medicine Wheel Teachings and Blackfoot Teaching History, Traditions and Language. Indigenous Knowledge Keepers and Elders from the region played significant roles in the teachings at the Camp, leading sessions by sharing their culture and knowledge.
