We acknowledge the educational role we have in building common ground between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Peoples.
We believe that the education system must be transformed to reject the racism embedded in colonial systems of education and treat Indigenous and Euro-Canadian knowledge systems with equal respect.
We advocate reconciliation through the integration of First Nations, Inuit and M茅tis voices, perspectives and experiences.
Faculty and staff, consider enrolling in the Indigenization: Foundations and Context course which examines:
- the history and impact of Treaties
- the Indian Act
- Canada鈥檚 residential schools
- and the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.
Explore the Calls to Action from the Truth & Reconciliation Report and how they influence post-secondary institutions.
Seminars take place in person and are complemented by readings, resources and assignments in Blackboard. Successful completion of this course may grant prior learning assessment & recognition (PLAR) for Module 4 of the Excellence in Teaching and Learning Career Development Certificate.
