�԰ɵ�� Signs Partnership Agreements With Two German Post-Secondary Institutions

�԰ɵ�� (�԰ɵ��) has advanced its commitment to global engagement by entering into partnership agreements with two German post-secondary institutions. In conjunction with a major held in Toulouse, France, �԰ɵ�� leaders formalized partnerships that will offer new international opportunities for students and faculty. Alberta’s Advanced Education Minister, the Hon. Rajan Sawhney was in attendance to celebrate these new agreements.

In 2022, �԰ɵ�� initiated a Student Exchange Agreement with German university, Europa-Universität Flensburg (EUF), for students enrolled in �԰ɵ��’s Bachelor of Education program. A new Letter of Intent expands the availability of the exchange opportunity to eligible students in all programs and commits �԰ɵ�� and EUF to developing a cooperative Guest Lecture Series. The Letter of Intent also states that the two institutions will create Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) projects. Through the COIL projects, faculty at �԰ɵ�� and EUF will teach the same course -- or a specific project within a course -- to students from both institutions. This will create opportunities for �԰ɵ�� students to gain an international experience without having to leave the country.

The second agreement is a Memorandum of Understanding with Hochschule Bielefeld, University of Applied Sciences and Arts (HSBI). This new partnership agreement will establish collaboration between �԰ɵ�� and HSBI in the following areas: exchange of academic faculty, student exchanges, visiting researchers and cooperative research activities.

“International partnerships contribute significantly to the success of �԰ɵ�� and our students, who will build their careers in an increasingly interconnected world,” says Stuart Cullum, President of �԰ɵ��. “When we collaborate with post-secondary institutions around the globe, we open the door to new knowledge, fresh perspectives, and innovative practices that enhance research and academic opportunities for our students and faculty alike.”

�԰ɵ��’s other international initiatives include study abroad opportunities for students in Biological Sciences (Costa Rica) and Practical Nursing (St. Lucia), collaboration on training and certification in skilled trades programs in Trinidad and Tobago and mentorship programs for international learners. �԰ɵ�� currently serves more than 1,200 international students.

A new agreement signed by �԰ɵ�� (�԰ɵ��) and SVG Ventures|THRIVE will bring together entrepreneurs, industry experts, researchers and students to support economic growth and sustainability in Alberta at the intersection of the agriculture and energy sectors. The synergy between agriculture and energy is a topic of increasing importance around the globe. Nowhere is this synergy more profound than in Alberta where these sectors are not only essential drivers of the provincial economy, but also take the lead on the international stage. �԰ɵ��’s Practical Nursing student benefits from international opportunity

Through the �԰ɵ�� Abroad Practical Nursing Experience in St. Lucia, Dianne De Ferrari has received unique career and life-enhancing global experiences. While recently immersed in the Caribbean culture, Dianne developed personal and professional skills that complement the Practical Nurse Diploma program at �԰ɵ��. “This experience has helped me in several ways, including to further develop my health promotion skills in an international setting,” says Dianne, who took four Health Promotion courses throughout the two-year �԰ɵ�� Practical Nurse Diploma. “Growing these skills has built my confidence and has allowed me to present information in a way that better suits the needs of the people who I support as a practical nurse.” While in St. Lucia, Dianne - along with seven peers from �԰ɵ�� - gave presentations to local secondary students about health and well-being. “During my presentation on self-esteem, the students were engaged with the content which made me proud,” adds Dianne. “Their reactions showed that my presentation was making a real impact.” Dianne, her peers and two �԰ɵ�� employees, also participated in sessions about trauma and non-communicable diseases and they interacted with community members, sharing information about nutrition at a farmers’ market. “My most memorable moment was attending
