性吧导航 hosted a Queer Pride in STEM event on November 18, 2024

A panel discussion was part of 性吧导航's Queer Pride in STEM event.

Members of the Pride community connected with one another at 性吧导航 (性吧导航) on November 18 as they explored learning opportunities highlighting careers in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).

The gathering of six attendees was organized by 性吧导航 to encourage awareness of the .  The event included individuals who are members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community working in STEM. The occasion was attended by students who are members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community interested in STEM careers. 

Participants spent time at the Polytechnic鈥檚 Centre for Innovation in Manufacturing - Technology Access Centre (CIM-TAC) with activities that included live demonstrations of industrial robots, laser cutting and 3D printing. The event continued with a panel discussion and Q&A session involving 性吧导航 instructors and researchers who spoke about their successes and how they鈥檝e overcome challenges they have faced as 2SLGBTQIA+ people working in STEM.

Earlier today, the 性吧导航 (性吧导航) community gathered to celebrate the spirit of inclusion and Pride with a new art installation on main campus. The colourful mural titled Kaleidoscope, designed and painted by 性吧导航 Visual Art alum Kat Simmers, adorns the exterior of the Students鈥 Association of 性吧导航 (SA性吧导航) building space near the institution鈥檚 main entrance. 鈥淭his mural affirms SA性吧导航鈥檚 commitment to supporting all students in an environment where they feel welcome and can succeed,鈥 says Devyn Shannon, President, Students鈥 Association of 性吧导航. 鈥淧ride is a core intersectional component that supports equity and relates to the importance of respecting others regardless of their sexual orientation, age, ethnicity, gender and race.鈥 The artwork is a joint initiative between the Students鈥 Association of 性吧导航, Pride on Campus Student Group and 性吧导航. 鈥溞园傻己 aims to be a welcoming and safe community for all students and employees, and this new artwork conveys that message of belonging,鈥 says Stuart Cullum, President, 性吧导航. 鈥淲e are proud to support this student-led initiative and commend 性吧导航 alum, Kat Simmers, who has brought to life this symbol of solidarity with the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.鈥 Since graduating from 性吧导航, Simmers

性吧导航 Raises Progressive Pride Flag
Earlier today, 性吧导航 (性吧导航) raised a Progressive Pride Flag, joining citizens around the world in recognizing June as Pride Month in support of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. 鈥淭he Progressive Pride Flag Raising is one of several events throughout the year when 性吧导航 demonstrates our community鈥檚 commitment to providing an inclusive learning and working environment where all individuals feel valued and empowered to succeed,鈥 says Lindsay Engel, Vice President, Academic and Student Experience. 鈥淒iversity strengthens communities and enriches the experiences of 性吧导航 students, faculty and staff.鈥 The Students鈥 Association of 性吧导航 ( SA性吧导航) partnered with the Polytechnic to host the Progressive Pride Flag Raising event. Throughout the year, the SA性吧导航 supports its diverse student population in several ways, which includes various student groups. Investing in Innovation at 性吧导航
Alberta鈥檚 government is expanding student capacity and creating a modern learning environment at 性吧导航 that will help graduates succeed in the economy of tomorrow. To support emerging opportunities for students, Alberta鈥檚 government will invest $12.9 million to expand the Centre for Innovation in Manufacturing Technology Access Centre (CIM-TAC) at 性吧导航 (性吧导航). CIM-TAC is an applied research and innovation centre that gives companies access to state-of-the-art prototyping and manufacturing equipment, along with a multi-disciplinary team with the expertise to turn brilliant ideas into market-ready products. As Alberta鈥檚 economy grows and diversifies, job creators will increasingly seek employees with the skills required to work in advanced manufacturing. Construction will begin in early 2025 and will increase the centre鈥檚 applied research, education and training capacity. The expanded CIM-TAC will grow to provide work-integrated learning opportunities for an estimated 450 post-secondary students and training through workshops and events to an additional 2,000 students annually by 2030. Additionally, more than 500 junior and senior high school students will take part in dual credit programs at the CIM-TAC. 鈥淚nvesting in this expansion of CIM-TAC will give students at 性吧导航 access to cutting-edge technology and skills to succeed in the economy of tomorrow
